Duncan is Chief Executive Officer of Invista Real Estate Investment Management (“Invista REIM”), having led its creation and IPO as a newly formed property fund management business listed in London. Invista was formed on 1 September 2006, from the Fund Management business of Insight Investment Management Limited. He joined Insight in 2003 following its acquisition of Gatehouse Investment Management, the real estate investment management boutique which he co-founded. He was the Managing Director of Insight’s property division, responsible for driving the strategy and growth. He was appointed a main board director of Insight. Invista REIM’s business grew from approximately £3 billion assets under management to over £10 billion at its peak. The company’s investment performance has been strong with 75% of funds with three year track records out-performing their benchmarks over the last thee years up to December 2008. The growth has involved the launch of 14 new innovative property funds including the IPO of three Public Listed Investment Trusts, the launch of the Opportunity Fund business and developing the business into continental European markets, Global Property Securities and the residential sector. Most recently Duncan has led Invista REIM’s growth into Asia with the acquisition of a business in Singapore and Hong Kong as well as entering into a new Joint Venture in Japan. Previously he was a director at LaSalle Investment Management and a partner at Jones Lang Wootton
He has a degree from Sheffield City University, is a qualified chartered surveyor, an FSA approved person, has studied at INSEAD business school in France and is a member of the British Property Federations Policy Committee.
